The former Executive Secretary of the Marcus Wallenberg Foundation passed away recently, and our heartfelt thoughts are with his wife Marie, their children and grandchildren, in their sorrow.

Kaj worked with the Foundation for two periods, first as Selection Committee member in 1993-1997 and then as Board member and Executive Secretary of the Foundation in 2013-2019.

Over this extensive period of commitment and service to the forest sector, Kaj contributed very significantly to the activities and global reputation of the Marcus Wallenberg Prize and to his own scientific field.

We will miss Kaj and feel privileged and grateful to have had the chance to know and work with him, enjoying his creativity, humour, diplomatic skills, fairness, and excitement for good science.
