Young Researchers’ Challenge 2015

The Challenge is now closed.

The Marcus Wallenberg Foundation invites young researchers to take part in Young Researchers’ Challenge with the chance to win a spot at the Prize Ceremony & Banquet, and more, to be held in Stockholm on 28-30 September 2015, along with a unique opportunity to present your research and meet leading scientists and forest-based industry representatives from all over the world. Also, meet with other young researchers! This year’s Marcus Wallenberg Prize recognizes achievements in the field of nanofibrillated cellulose, see www.mwp.org. As the challenges for the forest-based sector grow, the understanding of the structure and function of trees and forest ecosystems as well as the development of innovative, value-added products and technologies is becoming more and more important. For that, your contribution is essential.

Your Task

Based on your own research, briefly describe why you think it will have an impact on the forest-based industry and the society as a whole. Describe your vision for the development you want to promote with your research and how current obstacles can be overcome. You are free to discuss opportunities in a wide range of business areas in the sector. Your contribution should not exceed 200 words and shall be submitted not later than 15 July 2015. We invite researchers not older than 35 years, post docs and PhD students situated in Sweden to participate. After evaluation, and depending on the participation of international students, some 20 contributions will be selected to be invited to the 2015 MWP Prize Ceremony including connected activities, see below. We then welcome all winning participants to submit a short abstract on the research project to be presented in a poster session. A small number of the participants will be selected to give oral presentations during one of the seminars. PARTICIPATE NOW through our form on mwp.org/yrc2015
